5OJ Harris, a freshman at Frederick Douglass High School, is turning heads on the court, with his impressive skills, determination to win, and passion for basketball. He is a standout player and a future star for the Douglass Broncos.
OJ has been very dedicated to being the best version of himself. He trains for games and works on his shot in his free time. He also spends time in the gym, improving his physical condition and working to be a problem on the court. He has a growth mindset and is always looking to improve and become a better student-athlete.
“Our team has been doing good,” says OJ. “We took a couple of losses earlier in the season, but we gonna bounce back.”
OJ is optimistic and does not let losses get to him, instead, he uses them as motivation to come back harder and win the next. This was shown in his recent wins when the Broncos went 3-0 at the Woodford Freshman Championship.
OJ started his basketball journey at EJ Hayes Middle School. He won a championship one year and placed runner-up another. He plans to continue playing at Douglass for the next four years, which means he will also continue playing football as a Bronco. OJ is tough on the court and the field.
OJ’s basketball journey started off a little rocky, but he grew into the sport over time. Ever since he made his first basket in a high school game, he and basketball have been inseparable.
“In the future, I want to make it to play in college and get college paid for.” OJ has many big goals and is very excited about his future. He is a hard worker and strives to be a successful student-athlete.
