Currently, most freshmen this year seem to be more interested in the Professional Services Academy, specifically our Pre-Law pathway. So let’s go into more depth about this pathway, and why it seems to be one of our most popular pathways.
As everyone knows, the Pre-Law pathway is one of our pathways that lie under our Professional Services Academy. For our Freshman Seminar classes the other week, we visited each academy along with their pathways and learned about them. Around school, some freshmen aren’t sure on what to choose, or if they chose right.
So, we interviewed Mr. Bramble, a teacher in Pre-Law, along with a student and their personal experiences in the pathway.
“One of the things that makes this pathway very unique is there is the ability to participate in what’s known as team Court, here in Lexington, and in team Court students can work with people who have committed actual crimes.” Mr. Bramble states, “Another thing, we also have this courtroom where we can come over here and spend a lot of time practicing how to ask questions, how to write questions, and overall practicing the ways of a courtroom.” he added.
Legal services may not be interesting to everyone, however, this pathway does a great job at engaging with its students by teaching them about their rights and educating them about the law. Even if you don’t plan on being a lawyer, detective, or anything like that, this pathway can and will prepare you for real life situations in the future.
For incoming sophomores, you have the choice to take not one, but two pathway courses for Pre-Law if it is suitable for your schedule. These classes are called “Intro to Law” and “Criminal Law and Procedures”
“For freshmen who are interested in this pathway, I would say to do it.” Katie Boyd, a senior who is also taking this pathway says, “You learn a lot of things about law, I wouldn’t say it’s challenging, it’s easy to grasp especially if you’re interested in it, so if you’re interested in law, or just engaging, I would definitely say go into this pathway.” She added.
With this, Mr. Bramble plans to make many improvements to these experiences, he wants to give his students the opportunities to see things outside of the classroom to expand their knowledge, he wants to take his students out on more field trips, and to overall make this pathway even better.
