
Jo Hanna Rosevear, Fredrick Douglass Biomed Teacher, has been recognized as an outstanding instructor and influential role model towards her students, granting her the title of teacher of the year.
Mrs. Rosevear teaches many subjects under biomedical sciences magnet program, such as principles of Biomedical Sciences, human body systems, and a senior level course, biomedical innovations.
Mrs. Rosevear says she enjoys teaching because she gets to watch the development and learning processes of her students. She expresses how watching them grow in her class makes her job worth it.
¨My favorite thing is when I watch kids kind of struggle through that learning, and then they get it. Like when they get I just get goosebumps, I get so excited for them.¨
Mrs. Rosevear also expresses how much she loves the opportunities and experiences she’s open to here in Douglass.
¨I love the community aspect of Douglass, the colleges I work with, and the students I get to have. I love the the support and how often we celebrate students and the opportunities we give them.¨
Mr. Mead, principal of the freshman academy, explained briefly how picking the teacher of the year usually works.
¨The teachers are in charge of picking who to nominate, most of the time they are given a form, and from that they can vote.¨
