Students at FDHS are frustrated with dismissal and transportation issues. Many say buses arrive late in the morning and take too long to leave in the afternoon. This makes it hard for students to get to class on time. It also causes students to miss some after school activities or get home later than expected.
Waiting for buses that never seem to arrive on time and finding your bus in the afternoon is also a headache. Students who are car riders also face their own problems.
“It’s really stressful when the bus doesn’t come on time,” said Miguel Reyes, a freshman. “Sometimes I don’t get to the first period until halfway through.”
Parents have also raised concerns about safety when buses are delayed, some worry about kids waiting outside for too long in the mornings. “I’m constantly late,” said Zion Ford, a freshman. “And I feel like it shouldn’t count against me because it’s the bus’s fault.”
They should do dismissal grade by grade starting with seniors so the halls won’t get so crowded and people don’t get lost, said Alexander Merino, a freshman.
As the school year progresses students and parents hope that these discussions will lead to real life change, making sure that transportation issues are resolved and every student can focus on their education without the stress of unreliable transportation.
