With a new head coach and new team, the Broncos Volleyball Team takes the new season head-on. With all the upcoming games and hours of practice, they are ready to bring it.
After a long process of finding a new head coach, Tori Hanson stepped up. Coach Jason the JV coach from last year and Coach Mays decided to stay to coach this year as well. And we have Coach Brooke, a new freshman coach who joined us this year. Their season is underway, and everyone is full of excitement, with many goals set.
“I want to be able to play together and beat teams that are supposed to be better than us,” said Uriyah, a player on the varsity team this season. “I’m looking forward to playing Station.”
The girls on the team hold themselves to very high standards. The coaches and players are all hoping for some big wins.
“Fingers crossed we will win districts and make it to regions and from there win state,” Daleigh Johnson said. “I have to hold myself to higher expectations as a varsity player this season.”
Uriyah joined the team this season, her junior year, and at first was worried it would be a difficult adjustment, but quickly realized what a good environment the team is.
“I was worried I wouldn’t have friends, but everyone on the team is actually so nice,” said Uriyah.
The team also does a special program every year called “Big and Little Sisters.” Basically the upperclassmen are big and the underclassmen are littles. They get to hangout, have an older girl to look up to and talk to whenever they need them. And they also bring each other little gifts before every home game to wish each other luck!
“My favorite memory so far this season is getting to talk to my littles before and after each game,” Ava Henderson said.
