Do you know about Archery? If so you might know it is a very intense sport, but for those who don’t know about the sport I will explain to you today what it is.
“Archery is a very mental sport, it is physical but it’s also mental because you can get into your head very easily and mess up on some things,” says Abigail Smith, a student athlete who’s on the archery team. “ But as long as you learn how to control your mind and calm yourself you can do anything in there, you could shoot the perfect score and it’s more of a way to keep your body still and your mind at rest. “ She added.
So while it can be a very stressful sport it can also set your mind at rest has she states.
Did you know that Achery has a college? Well they do! Has stated by Abigail Smith and Her long term of going to the college She says
“I’m hoping I can do Compound Bow for college and if not I’d probably come back to Douglas and help teacher archers get their scholarships and archery careers in check.”
What separates archery from other sports is it’s a individual sport Such as Abigail says
“It’s an individual sport, so it’s not like if you go in as a team you can win or lose as a team, and you can actually have people in your team who can do their very best and rank to also have your team win.”
The sport itself is for the people who are in also treat each other like family members instead of the intense rage of constant yelling or teammates complaining on how you played.
“Archery is not just a sport to do with friends, but it’s a place we can come together and just be with each other it’s like another family. It’s something I’m grateful for and we don’t get treated like little kids or something, we treat them like they are family and we love each and everyone and I’m just so grateful for them.”
And for those who maybe aren’t hooked or interested in the sport, so was Abigail.
“My sister actually did archery and I never really was into sports but my parents actually got me into archery. They were like, “You want to try it?” and the second I shot the bow I fell in love.”
