Y club is a civics related club that brings students together and enhances their public speaking and social skills. Students who participate in Y club are introduced to new friends and teachers and they learn many things about law and social sciences.
Y club also brings opportunities for students to get involved in their community. Teacher and club leader Kirsten Jaworski says “Y Club is a civics student club where they talk about getting civically engaged in their community and their school and just kinda in the world.¨
Some events that Y club members participate in include KUNA and KYA. KYA is a mock United Nations event where students can experience how the legislative process works. At a recent competition, our FDHS Y club had 2 bills passed.
Y club is still searching for new members. Any students interested can ask questions to Mrs. Jaworski in room C203. Mrs. Jaworski says ¨If you’re interested in Y club, come and check it out!¨
