With winter months coming up, not only is it holiday season, it is basketball season! Frederick Douglass boys basketball started out their season this past Saturday against Henderson County and came out with the first win of a prosperous season to come. Let’s dive deeper into the team.
Junior shooting guard, Tate Robinson, describes the beginning of the basketball season as a great start, with the team winning their first two scrimmages with ease. He is most excited for the Bryan Station game at Bryan Station High School, and believes the team will continue to compete well despite having some new guys on the team. When asked what his favorite thing about Douglass basketball was, he said, “The culture and the competitiveness that we get to feel every time we walk in the gym because we know our coaches and our teammates can make us better every day.”
Sophomore Guard, Jackson Ross describes his uncontained excitement for this season and believes that “We will get a lot better as a team and we will play together in order to win games.” He appreciates the friendly environment of the team and explains that they have fun with each other even on hard days. When asked why he enjoys the team he says “I enjoy having fun and playing a sport I love with some of my best friends.”
