John Henry Hershinow’s mom, Tammy Hershinow, has organized a “Big Hersh” team for the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk at the University of Kentucky on April 27th. Check in at 10 AM at Greek Park on the University of Kentucky’s campus. The event begins at 11 AM.
At this walk, you have the option to donate and or walk. All money made will be poured back into our community here in Fayette County. Shirts were available for purchase until March 30th to promote and wear to the walk.
To donate you can click on “Roster,” after scanning the QR code on the flyer, select a team member to “support”, and donate toward their individual goal for the fundraiser like Mrs. Hershinow or Amelia Farmer.
Not only is this walk to honor the late Mr. Hershinow, it is also to “give people the courage to open up about their own connections to the cause,” informed the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk website, “and a platform to create a culture that’s smarter about mental health”
When you choose to walk or donate you are donating to a cause that is bigger than yourself. It is an organization to promote mental heath and the prevention of suicide. If you choose to donate or walk, know that your money is not being wasted.
Many students are excited to be able to show their adoration of “Big Hersh” by coming to this walk. He was an incredible teacher to many, so it is amazing that the students are able to honor him in this way. Hopefully this walk is an inspiration and a remembrance of all John Hershinow was.
