Pi day is almost upon us! But what exactly does that mean?
Well, pi, better known as 3.14, π, or the ratio to a circle’s circumference. Pi is an infinite irrational number, which means its decimal infinitely goes on — with no pattern.

Other than that terrifying fact, why do we celebrate pi day on March 14th? Think about it. 3/14. Looks oddly familiar, doesn’t it? Other than that fun fact, what else happens on Pi day?
Well, certain contests are held! Some of the more popular ones being local memorization contests, where contestants must recite as many digits of pi as possible — whoever cites the most wins!
There are several different techniques that can be used to help memorize the digits of pi, like through song, splitting strings of digits up into smaller groups, and several others.

However, if memorization isn’t your speed, then maybe pie eating contests are! Some
areas host local pie eating contests, which also grant rewards to those who can eat the most pie!
Pi Day is a holiday that is often overlooked, however, has a lot going for it. So hopefully you enjoy this year’s Pi Day, and remember, 3.14159265.
