Walking into high school can feel exciting and a little overwhelming, especially when you have to choose a pathway or academy.
That’s why the Freshman Seminar Showcase was so helpful. It gave us a chance to learn about the different options our school offers and helped future freshmen figure out what might be the best fit for them.

One of the pathways highlighted at the showcase was the Tech Academy. This academy is great for students who enjoy working with computers, technology, and problem-solving. Students in the Tech Academy can learn skills like coding, computer hardware, digital design, and engineering basics.
“This freshman showcase has been a huge help for me especially because I had no idea what I wanted to do. This showcase helped me realize what pathway would be a great fit for me” said by Maggie Rambach.
These classes help prepare students for technology-related careers and also build skills that are useful in many jobs today, like teamwork and critical thinking.

Another popular option was Health Sciences. This pathway is perfect for students who are interested in helping others and learning about the human body. In Health Sciences, students can explore careers like nursing, medical assisting, sports medicine, and other healthcare fields.
The academy focuses on science-based classes and gives students a look into what it’s like to work in hospitals, clinics, and other medical settings.

The Pro-Serv (Professional Services) Academy was also featured at the showcase. This pathway focuses on careers that involve working with people and businesses. Students can learn about areas like education, law, public service, business, and communications.
Pro-Serv helps students build leadership, organization, and communication skills that are useful in many different career paths.
“ This event really helped our students pick the best career set for the future” said by Stephanie Durbin

Overall, the Freshman Seminar Showcase made choosing a pathway easier by showing what each academy offers and how they connect to real-world careers.
Whether you’re interested in technology, healthcare, or professional services, there is an option that can match your interests and goals.
The showcase reminded us that choosing a pathway isn’t about having your whole future planned out—it’s about exploring what you like and discovering new opportunities.
For incoming freshmen, the best advice is to choose the pathway that excites you the most. high school is a time to learn, grow, and try new things, and the right academy can help you do just that!
