A few sheets of stickers united the students of Frederick Douglass Highschool.
Yes, you heard that right.
To elaborate, back in October the FDHS Library set up a massive numbered white sheet of paper on a wall.
Along with this paper, were several sticker sheets that had solid colored stickers and a legend.
The whole point of this activity was to get the students to take some stickers and put them on the corresponding numbers — and in turn, a beautiful picture would be formed.
The students got together, and after a few weeks of anticipation it turned out to be a picture of an eye!
The sticker wall was a HIT!

However, this was all back in October.
It’s old news.
At least that’s what it would’ve been if the FDHS Library stopped there.
This is because according to Mrs. Brewer — the head librarian of the library — they’re bringing the sticker wall back with a twist!
Mrs. Davis states, “We have ordered 4 new sticker sheets and are planning on making them last the rest of the year.”
When asked about what images the sticker walls will be, Mrs. Brewer said, “It’s a surprise, but it is themed around artists.”
Mrs. Brewer also revealed that the library has even more upcoming activities and upgrades for students.

One of these was Sphero!
Spheros are little robot spheres that can be programmed to follow different paths and mazes.
Mrs. Brewer later stated, “STLP has a category called ‘Sphero Hero’, where cityscapes are built and Spheros are programmed to explore and react to their environment.”
When asked where specifically Spheros would be incorporated, Mrs. Brewer stated, “Spheros are more of a Makerspace activity. However, due to them being robots, we do plan on incorporating them with Mr. Hannah’s robotics class.”
On top of all this, Mrs. Brewer said that within the next calendar year, the library plans on getting a new library computer, a new 3D-printer, a Cricut (a vinyl cutter), and more bookshelves.
To wrap all of this up, the FDHS Library is bringing 4 new sticker sheets to go on the wall, introducing Spheros, a Cricut, more bookshelves, a new library computer, and even more surprises!
The FDHS Library has much more in store for students, so stay tuned, as you don’t want to miss it!
